Annual report is a printed report on the company’s status including what the company did the year before, their ideas and business outlook, full financial report including a balance sheet and a summary of the audit done by a public accounting firm. Other information deemed relevant to stakeholders may be included, such as a report on operations for manufacturing firms. In the case of larger companies, it is usually a sleek, colorful, high gloss publication.
I’ve done two annual reports so far, one was for INTI Universal Holdings Berhad 2006 and the other was for GENSEQ Limited 2008. First of all, let me tell you this, I love every step involved (design process) in making an annual report into reality. Simply because, sometimes client gives you so much freedom to come up with good design philosophy as long as in line with their business mission and image branding.
I am still proud of my first annual report design that I did for INTI although it was scrapped at very last minute and then replaced with ’safer’ one. Sometimes, clients do prefer the ‘tame version’ for their annual report over your favourite, so it is always good if you have one prepared. My second annual report was for Genseq Limited, since the design concept wasn’t that deep (there was no time for it), it only took me 3 workings day to finish it. It was a rush project and even though the time frame was tight, I tried my best to produce a neat and clean design.

Fresh and uncluttered. Takes away the formality of an Annual Report without stripping away it’s corporate values. They must be very appreciative of these, Good Job!
